Mental Health Association of Montgomery County is Now EveryMind

Mental Health Association of Montgomery County Changes Name to EveryMind

Rockville, MD (September 15, 2016) – Mental Health Association of Montgomery County (MHA), has been positively impacting the mental health and wellness of children, youth, adults, and families in Montgomery County and the surrounding region for nearly sixty years. On September 15, 2016 MHA is launching its new brand including a new name – EveryMind, with the tag line, “Your mental wellness. Our mission.”

“The new name, EveryMind, clarifies and more accurately reflects our work, our mission, and our identity as an independent, nonprofit organization” states CEO, Ann Mazur. “The words ‘mental health’ have had the burden of a stigma which has put up barriers to people seeking and receiving lifesaving support. With the change in name, we are helping to change the public conversation around mental health and wellness, and to remind everyone that mental wellness is important for every mind.”

“MHA has long been a valued partner and provider of essential services for our community,” states County Executive Isiah Leggett. “We look forward to building on that relationship as EveryMind and the County continue to work toward a healthier Montgomery County.” While continuing the  programs and services the organization has provided for Montgomery County, EveryMind will also widen its focus to serve the entire DC region and beyond. EveryMind’s Serving Together program is at the forefront of this expansion having already established an office in Northern Virginia last year.

“Mental wellness should be a focus, no different than physical health and wellness. EveryMind is committed to getting this message out there,” states EveryMind Board President Kathy McCallum. Kathy goes on to explain, “This isn’t a simple name change – this is a shift in strategic direction which the Board and Staff have been working on for a number of years.”

Congressman Chris Van Hollen, a longtime supporter of efforts to address mental health issues states, “Our community benefits enormously from the outstanding work of EveryMind.  Healthy individuals and families are essential to healthy communities, and we rely on EveryMind to help serve the mental wellness needs of our community. I am confident that its new name and continued dedication to its critical mission will lead to stronger communities across Montgomery County and beyond. I look forward to continuing my long and close relationship with this great organization.”
